just a guy from Kentucky who loves film
favorites are my favorite film from each of the last 4 years
First time rewatching it in two years and I was hoping it would click better this time around, but honestly it really did nothing for me. Learning the history of Dick Cheney and the devolution of him as a person as his hunger for power grew was certainly interesting, and Christian Bale does a phenomenal job portraying that. In fact, the whole cast is really good, particularly Amy Adams and Sam Rockwell. But my issue with the film is the…

Aubrey Plaza is fantastic in this, along with the whole cast, making this Instagram world feel like a reality. And as it continues we start to see the layer of reality actually show. All of this I thought was really clever and great, but the ending was a little muddled for me. I think I understand…
I honestly don’t really know what to say but this is probably my favorite movie I’ve seen from 2020. I’m between a 4.5 and 5 right now but will stick with 4.5 so I don’t overreact. But wow, this was truly incredible. One of the most thrilling movies I’ve seen, period.
A truly great, powerful film that took me way too long to get around to watching, but I’m so glad I did. Spike Lee brings us a story about the significance of prejudice and the impact of war. The actors throughout the film, particularly Delroy Lindo, provide incredible performances that really show the effects that these traumatic events have had. At times the tone can feel really inconsistent, and that was something that threw me off throughout the film. But as a whole, this is a great movie and is definitely worth the watch.
