Liam O'Malley’s review published on Letterboxd:
Oscar Best Picture Nominee #2 / 8
This is truly sublime film making that immerses you in the experiences of those with dementia and the loved ones who are supporting someone with the condition. As a viewer you are left confused, upset and endeared. And having first hand experience of having a loved one endure dementia- I can say it was scarily accurate and equally unsettling.
Hopkins is absolutely phenomenal in this role leaving me utterly heartbroken by the end of it. I have still to see 5 of the 7 Best Picture nominees and performances from those nominated for Best Male. This film and this performance from Hopkins will take some beating.
