    Paddington 2014

    Not Anna Faris

★★★½ Rewatched by Not Anna Faris 07 Apr 2022 2

"Uncomfortable? Flushed? Queasy? It's called a hard stare. My aunt taught me to do them when ppl had forgotten their manners."

Paddington takes essential themes for the modern world about the hardships of displacement & the necessity for kindness, & dresses them up in lovely cinematics, lighthearted antics, & a hat that hasta reek of stale bread & marmalade.
& Against the odds, it works.

For soft skies, saturated by phenomenon, discerned by the tenderness of the morose. Trading idle gaze, yearning for devotion, the insurgency of a lonely heart roams on impulse. An unabating inertia, felt in the bristled verdant bushes and the fragility of withering composure, a condition of fruitless compassion in a vacancy of feeling for a trialling reverie. The truth is that the textures of fate are all to a miracle, a lucid rapture to those who seek it's liberties. Love is temporal, an entity to predicate euphoria and pathos, yet always does it remain, glimpsing to fill the heart red of our own.

“we too are children of this age, weaned on strife and chaos.”

a poetic behemoth of cinema, forged by the greats of ishirō honda and george lucas, to name a few, akira kurosawa’s tragic tale of king lear is orchestrated in a grandiose spectacle. spilling eastern bloodshed to shakespearean melodrama, ran bursts the accumulated anger of atrocities slain by men who know no consequences. a physically elaborate soliloquy, from the vantage point of divinity gazing onward, kurosawa’s feudal epic is…

Yes I’m a hater and yes I can be pretentious at times but I’m still ALLOWED to like a stupid cheesy movie. Look away I don’t care this movie has me MESMERIZED. I’m on the edge of my seat the whole runtime AND I sob violently by the end without fail!!! I’m tired of filmbros recommending something that is absolutely not meant for a mindless movie night. “Oh yeah babe let’s put on something Lynchian let’s get really surreal with it” NO let me enjoy a simple pleasure in life and put on The Notebook‼️
