Jesse’s review published on Letterboxd:
The first time I watched The Lighthouse, I loved the technical craft and the performances but that was about it. This time, I fully submerged myself in the madness and I loved every second of it.
Obviously the strength of the film lies with Dafoe and Pattinson. Their commitment to the dialogue and the rage they must embody is half the fun. Getting to see it all play out in a claustrophobic setting is just a bonus. I recommend watching with the subtitles because it makes it even better as you try to follow along with whatever the hell they are saying.
I’m always on the lookout for films that fit the David Lynch mold and this one has all the fixings. It also made me a lot more excited for The Northman.
