three cheers for movies
actually kind of liked this one. not really any different to the earlier ones i just bought in to it i guess. think that act in the village won me over. still lost me a bit at the end (by which I mean the entire last hour) but even then it was probably as many hits as misses. Anno's oddball music choices pull it through. even kind of in to the wacky cgi by the end
Little half-remembered glimpses came to the surface watching this. That bit about his nose being the highest part of his body and having to dig down with his head had been sat deep in my brain for probably nearly 30 years. I couldn't recall the story, just a couple of snatches.
This one is slower, and not funny. Combined with distant memories it formed a pretty sombre experience.
I know there's all this fancy set stuff going on and everything…
