I was so excited. I then heard mixed things. I had no idea what to expect. This seemed like an incredibly dangerous yet promising risk for Taika to take on after his steps into Marvel. I was worried and excited for him.
It started off well. It dragged a little at times. But when it was all done. It is safe to say that this is one of the best films of the year. We all knew what Taika was capable of in the past; but I don't think we knew this.
There are so many words to describe this. It is one of the most charming, endearing and honest films I have seen in some time. It will feel like an impossible task to describe something like this in a short review.
This is an experience that needs to be seen to be believed. It's truly something else. This felt like a filmmaker catching lightning in a bottle. It made me laugh. It made me emotional. It made me feel so much.
I wouldn't go as far to say this is the year's best. It will take some time for that to sink in or not. It is one of the best though; despite it dragging at times and part of the humour not landing for myself either sometimes.
When it was all said and done though; I didn't mind. This felt like an incredibly important and powerful film. It will make you laugh, but you're going to feel so much more then that before it's over. It's one of a kind.
