So this happened. I love this franchise. I have for a long time. I've been enjoying the Disney movies so far. They have their problems. But I think they've been very fun - more than anything else. But that stops here. Unfortunately.
This wasn't terrible - but it's easily the weakest entry in the franchise since Disney have taken over. It's the film that nobody asked for. But despite this. I was still holding out hope. I wanted to be optimistic.
But even for someone like me. I still found it underwhelming. It felt like a sludge from start to finish. It was fun at times. But mostly kinda uneventful and uninteresting. I didn't care for almost any of the new characters or the story.
The one element that kept my interest mostly was the performances. Especially Alden Ehrenreich & Donald Glover in their roles of Han & Lando. They were very impressive - with what they had to work with. I would still love to see more from the two of them in these roles.
I'm not sure if I'd even recommend this film though. Unless you're a hardcore fan of the series. It's not that exciting. It's not that compelling. Most of the humour didn't land. I'm probably going to forget about it all soon. It's that type of film. Disappointing.
