I've been very interested in watching this film for awhile now, despite hearing some incredibly mixed responses online despite the recent Oscar nominations.
I honestly find the reactions to this film fascinating, I think they are a perfect reflection on the emotionally charged and savagery of it that pulls at your feelings from start to finish. It doesn't let you breathe too often at all.
This film is superbly directed by Martin McDonagh but is absolutely carried by powerhouse performances from McDormand, Harrelson and Rockwell. They're spectacular in this. I don't think we've seen them any better.
There's some powerful moments in this film that help progress the story that they're telling. I found that they portrayed it all in a brutally real manner and it was elevated by a beautiful score and stunning cinematography.
I think what will be remembered most more then anything from this is how these actors carried the narrative in the way that they did. It was done in a very impressively seamless manner. Definitely a film that will stay with you for awhile. At least for me. Incredible.
