Colin’s review published on Letterboxd:
This lovely romantic comedy will make you want to swim to Hawaii and never leave. The location photography here rivals anything else Ford ever did, and Lee Marvin playing with his train set is one of the most adorable things I’ve ever seen.
This is one of those movies that I was super into while it was happening but then the last scene felt so wrong it leaves you with a bad impression. The other thing I often have trouble with in Ford’s comedies is that he seems to be parodying what he thinks people are really like...yet I’ve never met anyone who acts like people do in his movies. He’d have you think that back in the deal, real heterosexual men got into fistfights for fun that look like they’d kill someone in real life.
