Luke Hicks’s review published on Letterboxd:
what they say is true. bong joon-ho's PARASITE is a perfect movie. laugh-out-loud funny, an astute blend of humanity & absurdity, thrilling til its final depraved moments, a modern architectural feast for the eyes, a razor-sharp socio-economic critique, etc.
c'mon just look at that fuckin poster. it's brilliant. it makes absolutely no sense at all out of context. but once you've seen it, everything from the white/black lines to the tagline to the stone to the character arrangement means so much. i feel destined to dream about it.
and hoooly shit the Cannes crowd. the majority of a full 1100-person theatre erupted in bursts of *loud* applause several times. i honestly don't remember if it was 3 or 7. we were all so engrossed. it was compulsive.
