Murder Party ★★★½

On the surface, Murder Party appears to be a very mediocre horror comedy that’s just making fun of wannabe “artists.” But I can’t help feel that’s mostly a red herring.

The pedestrian nature of each character and the nonchalant attitude each exhibits toward death (including the would-be victim) turns horror tropes on their heads.

I keep thinking about the scene where the main character comes out the closet and everyone is armed and waiting for him to come out as well as the rooftop chase scene...When you watch a lot of horror and/or horror comedy it’s hard to truly find surprises in these types of films, but Murder Party does manage to be its own thing.
