The Father

The Father ★★★★★

The Father is absolutely brilliant. Warping the viewers perspective so we can understand the mind of a man that is failing him, allowing us to experience the unease and confusion that occurs in the life of one suffering from dementia.

For a playwright directing his first film, Zeller dodges the pitfalls of a filmed version of a play and presents something dynamic and engaging and keeps you hooked.

Colman is her usual brilliant self and Hopkins is astoundingly good, truly magnificent and under different circumstances would be the favorite for best actor.

I am blown away by this film and look forward to whatever Florian Zeller does next.
