Way more average than expected. I was geared for something heavy and freaky but it was a standard Edgar Allan Poe riff with a lot of typical Millennial film school aesthetic. The DP thinks he's Sven Nykvist and Robert Pattison tries to channel Daniel Day Lewis. Pattison has such good facial contortions but ruins it with the fake Bostonian accent he's used in a couple films now. Also, produced by admitted Mossad spy Arnon Milchan who produced THE REVENANT which feels way too similar.
The usual "serious" topics: father-son pain, hierarchy, patriarchy, isolation. Not as good as the 2nd half of JAWS. Thats a sailor movie!
