Incredible screenwriting and a stellar cast are the highlights. Carter Burwell's score and the cinematography are great too, but Martin McDonagh is a true talent, whether you like his style or not.
The final third is really when this movie proves itself as something to be taken seriously ... yet it's the most controversial part of the movie. People complaining at a certain 'redemption arc' need to stop being so obsessed over politics and go back to watching shallow feel-good Disney movies and those that felt the movie ended too early need to understand that this is an ensemble of terrific character studies and not a murder mystery.
