lucy’s review published on Letterboxd:
it’s been a long time since i’ve seen this and every tine i watch it, i’m reminded of what a beautiful piece of work it is. there’s so many films that feel similar to others, or are clearly inspired by others and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, but to me, close encounters feels completely original and singular and i can just feel the amount of love that spielberg has for the science fiction genre. it just leaps off the screen to me. the last half hour or so is probably some of my favourite media ever and i remember why i fell in love with the film, the genre and just film in general. i wish i was better at writing but i can never quite seem to articulate what i want to say correctly. anyway i will always adore this film and i’m very happy that it exists.
