goddamn cuaron and his fantastic films...

all the trademark cuarón (wandering camera, long shots, sex/sexual moments-that-aren’t-actually-about-sex, political background, art history references, even a beach) but he knows what works and he utilizes it well. the plot/story is perfect, and everything works so well together. even the black and white, which i already know someone will be claiming is pretentious, feel like it fits just right. cuaron steps into the role of dp so easily too, you can feel the time+energy spent making sure everything was just right. i was nervous going in because everyone was hyping it up so much, but it didnt disappoint
