The high points of this film are very high but the moments in between did not keep me as completely enthralled as the previous entry. The film succeeds in showing us more of the new characters while satisfyingly revisiting the old characters. It is, however, weighed down a bit by the surplus of ideas that it’s throwing out. There is no shortage of big moments in the film. Some of those moments work and some of them don’t but none of them are given enough time to be processed in order to have a strong emotional impact beyond the initial elicited reaction. The Last Jedi is a good film but sadly, it did not give me the thrill that The Force Awakens did. That being said, this trilogy is now 2-0 and I am still looking forward to seeing how everything is wrapped up in Episode IX.
