Ethan Inglis’s review published on Letterboxd:
This is almost easily Bong’s best film. (And, with that, very much one of the best I’ve ever seen.) I just need to rewatch it.
The first act is a building ground (and a well realized comedic one at that) for the second and third (Which are some of the best in the business) and each act has its own wonderful expansion on the prior. There is a sequence here that is nearly 40 minutes of pure suspense. (Easily one of the best sequences of the decade.)
Song Kang-ho is brilliant leading this superb ensemble. Every character is well realized. And it would take a true jaw dropping masterpiece to overtake this in terms of 2019 releases. (Looking at you, The Lighthouse.)
