mackwolf’s review published on Letterboxd:
Fucking Steven INSISTED I accompany him to his first viewing bc he is a pussy.
To be honest, I was planning on napping during this second time, like...I’m TIRED, but damn, I was just as invested.
This view sparked a new conversation about the borderline between being intellengently ambiguous and having lazy writing. It made me think a lot about the things that weren’t explained, or “wrapped up” as well as those which I realized this second time were actually explained, but you had to pay CLOSE attention.
Why was Ruben relevant/included? How exactly does Dani’s sister fit in here? There are other ones, but I’m too tired to think of the rest. I don’t have an answer as to whether or not this represents either side of the spectrum...idk where I’m going with this I’m a lil fucked and I’m tired uhhhh do with this review as u will
think about it
I also realized how great the attention to mood is throughout. Like, the whole peeing on the tree extravaganza prepares the anxiety for the news that the girl’s boyfriend left without her which would otherwise have been mundane and not read as urgent as it does with the score’s strings already corroding our attention from the previous event.
Still fun. Don’t care to ever see again tho!
