  This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

  So, for the first 20 minutes I was really enjoying the movie. I actually felt my smile lighting up every time Halle sang. But as the movie went on, my smile started dropping and, by the time Eric started singing his terrible song on the beach like a music video, I realised that the movie was going to be bad.

  also there's a really funny part near the end where triton sadly shoots his trident magic at an off-screen ariel and then it cuts to the next scene. and my friend who has never seen the original thought that triton literally killed her
