Holy Motors

Holy Motors ★★★★½

Another modern arthouse darling I finally can cross off my watchlists. I expected it to be weird, but not this far-out. It is an absorbing, thought-provoking, bizarre and surprisingly moving and funny experience of loosely connected vignettes and a sad center story, with a tour-de-force, chameleonic performance by the great Denis Lavant who plays the shape-shifting main character going through different identities and appointments. Another reminder that film doesn't necessarily need to make sense at first to be fascinating and profound. Beautiful, enigmatic, utterly entertaining and open for a variety of interpretations.
