THIS MOVIE DESERVES TO BE WATCHED IN IT’S ORIGINAL LANGUAGE. Don’t get me wrong, I am forever thankful for subtitles because I’ve been trying to learn French for 3 years and I’m still no good, but sometimes a movie doesn’t have the same emotion when you let voice overs tell you the story. The humor is reminiscent of Portlandia or anything with Fred Armisen and I truly believe that the only thing that could make this movie better would be if Fred was in it.
In all actuality, this is one of the scariest movies I’ve seen because of the toxicity frightening male characters who objectify all the women in the movie. There are at least 3 rape scenes, and they’re the reason I couldn’t finish the movie. Utterly disturbing AND it gave me nightmares for more than a few days. Don’t watch if you’re sensitive to toxic masculinity, and definitely don’t watch if you’re a woman, it’s all too real. If you took out the ‘supernatural’ elements of the movie it would be incredibly real and arguably, even scarier.
