Felipe Fritz’s review published on Letterboxd:
I think I prefer the original since this one lacks the dark atmosphere that that one had, but on a technical level is undoubtably superior. The camera moves in much more ambitious ways, there's actual music this time and the scale of the story is larger.
It also has a lot more depth and emotion.
It develops the character of the Monster in an incredibly moving way. The original already set him up as a tragic character, but here we really feel sad for him and want to see him be happy. The scene with the old blind man is the best in the movie.
Also, the bride may only have a few minutes of screentime, but that look is so damn good.
