6 Countries - Japan

Something that's always fascinated me about horror is the underlying moral code that separates the sinning from the pure and, following that, the dead from the living.

"Onibaba" is an early and international example of evil forces scaring young people into celibacy. Kichi's mother, by becoming the demon which mothers warn their children with, she secured her own life. But in doing so endangered everyone else's.

-Kichi's mother coming to cut a b*tch with a machete and a boob OUT!
-Every time the leaves cut from night to day.
-Kichi's mother crippled, demonic, and pleading.
-Kichi's mother when the daughter makes it to Hachi's house, defeating her deceit.
