Days of Heaven

Days of Heaven ★★★★

It's often said of this film that you could watch it with the sound turned off and still be able to follow the narrative as told by director Terrence Malick.

It's fair to say that Malick strips every ounce of extraneous fat from this pastoral and elegiac tale, preferring the visual over unnecessary or expositional dialogue, and thereby creates a beautiful epic which - at just 90 minutes - runs at half the length of your average sumptuous period picture.

Simply beautiful, this is more than just a film; with virtually each framed shot resembling something you'd love to hang on your wall, Days of Heaven is nothing less than a work of art.
