Watch a movie starring an actor/actress who was in Avengers Endgame.
When it comes to a film like this, it's a fine line between criticising a problematic ideology and glorifying it. With Pain and Gain, I read it as a criticism because the film does repeatedly call its criminals 'idiots' and 'morons' and they are punished.
At the same time, I don't fully believe Bay intended Pain and Gain as a critique of the American dream and how easily it can be misread to allow criminal intent. Wahlberg's final monologue definitely seemed to be saying 'worth it'.
Another problem with Pain and Gain is that, initially at least, it is criminals ripping off a criminal. It was difficult to know who we were supposed to be rooting for, and I had to conclude 'no one'.
Felt a little sorry for Anthony Mackie's character, but I don't want to spoil as to why. Also feel sorry for Anthony Mackie being left off most promotional material considering he's essentially second-in-command with the little crew.
