Egger's has seriously solidified himself as a master of modern horror. He managed to pull two century-defining performances out of Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe as well as creating such a uniquely terrifying setting. The smaller frame and masterful cinematography elevate the descent into madness Pattinson and Dafoe's characters go through. The way Eggers writes his films based on old folklore and mythology is pure genius and I appreciate it so much. Modern horror films need to continue to be made this way.
