Sam B.’s review published on Letterboxd:
But I’ve seen the way
That bodies lie and bodies tend to break
And I've been away
I've been away too long
Too long to be afraid
😭😭😭 This is so so sweet. Touch repulsion canon. Ducornau’s conception of gender and horniness and the sexual violence we do to ourselves is very cis, very odd, very French, very moving. Comparisons - to transness, to new French extremity, to Crash - make each look worse, because their concerns and limitations form only the thinnest center of a Venn Diagram (though it’s still worth considering imo, how this movie rejects the hypotheses of its cultural precedents, to variable degrees of persuasiveness). I grip the people I love so hard sometime I make my chest bleed.
