Jesse Sparks’s review published on Letterboxd:
Now I can finally join in the debate of Blow-Up and the film it influenced, Brian De Palma's Blow Out. Honestly, I'm not really sure which I prefer and I think it will come down to the type of mood I'm in. Blow Out is more satisfying from a narrative perspective and is focused around the gimmick of using technology to solve a murder. Whereas Blow-Up is much more thought provoking and leaves you with questions while the murder mystery is a tool used for character study. Blow-Up revels in its counter-cultureness and gives a big middle finger to the Production Code in America. The whole point of the film can be sorted with the line about creating art and finding meaning in it afterwards while also dealing with existentialism and finding meaning in one's life.
