    The Beatles: Get Back

    Amazing that in 2021 anything or anyone can bring a new perspective to a discussion about the Beatles. I’m not even the biggest fan (my favorite Beatle is George, because like George I’m ambivalent about the Beatles and think it’s much cooler to move to LA and hang out with Tom Petty) but I still wished it were a couple hours longer.

    Seeing Paul sit down and work out songbook classics off the dome was sort of frightening. Whatever sonic ideas he hears in his head are not sounds I can access.

    This movie is a good satire of contemporary literary fiction with overly precious elements of magical realism but the big twist is that the book is supposed to be good? I thought it sounded like a real piece of shit. And of course, there is zero effort to explain why, exactly, this protagonist must die to advance the themes of the novel, which may or may not have any themes at all.
