Don’t listen to me my opinions are trash.

Time has been kind to this movie as it is considerably more topical today than it was 20 years ago when it was released. In the original Scream, it is said that “Movies don’t create psychos, movies make psychos more creative.” which is an all time great film quote. However, I would argue that Scream 3 approaches this with more nuance as it says movies don’t make killers, the people who make movies do.
If the first two installments are critiques of…
The 2nd remake and 11th overall Children of the Corn film that’s been shelved for 3 years isn’t very good, shocker I know, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a film where a child actor so brazingly outshines every other performer and aspect of a production before. The fact that Kate Moyer even comes close to selling some of this nonsense is a miracle. I hope she goes on to better projects.
A thought exercise with little thought to it. Functions fine as a home invasion thriller but even then Shyamalan isn’t a misanthropic enough storyteller to make this as nasty as it’s concept calls for it to be. This may go down as my least favorite of Shyamalan’s work because his previous misfires are at least interesting.
Didn’t find this as consistently gripping as Good Time but Adam Sandler’s performance (my favorite of the year) as a man slowly descending until he completely self-destructs was more than enough to keep me engaged throughout. The film never felt too long but I do feel that the story would have had the more tightly wound feel the Safdies were going for if a few minutes were shaven off with the love life subplots being the first to get cut. As is, this is still one of the best thrillers of the year and one I could see myself going back to often.
At best Beautiful Boy is a bad PSA for middle schoolers. At worst it is 120 minutes of emotional slavery
