Very close to being a 5 star film if not for a storytelling decision in the final act that I can't wrap my head around.
To this very moment it's so jarring that it really affects what was otherwise a very captivating introspective on the rush and dangers of lust.
Regardless of my feelings on the ending, Luca Guadagnino established himself as a filmmaker to watch with this film in 2009. His fluid and haunting camerawork was a truly a sight to behold. This was a great sign of things to come.
A jaw-dropping, visual feast for the senses.
The fantastic spectacle is enough to dazzle its way into your soul but the driving force is its passionate performers.
Every gaze, whisper, and growl has intent no matter the length of screentime.
Soul-stirring, riveting and exciting in every way.
Bravo Mr. Villenueve!
Truly exhilarating.
Despite familiar story beats and catering to an audience that more or less knows how this will go, the actual experience is something to behold.
Breathtaking visuals, seat shaking sound design, and a score that accompanies you to the highest heights.
See it on the biggest screen possible and enjoy the ride!
