How do you go from directing a quiet film about marraige to a sprawling, multi-generation epic? That's pretty amazing stuff right there.
Ryan Gosling is basically our Elvis. He has a magnetism that draws you in, you accept every ridiculous thing he wears and does. He is basically a religion. Or a cult.
The opening was fantastic, in fact I think my only criticism of the film would be that I wanted it all to have taken place at the fairground, because it looked so good and also that motorcycle cage is amazing!
