‘The father’ delivers a powerful and incredible award winning performance from Sir Anthony Hopkins and dives in the horrors of people living with dementia.
Writer Florian Zeller adapts his stage play of the same name in his directorial debut. His screenplay is fantastic!! Really shows of one memory playing tricks on itself. His touches throughout brings vast changes to how Anthony actually see his life going!
SAH fully deserves his Oscar for this performance. (Even if the academy did ruin the whole Oscar show in the lead up to him winning) The stand out moment had to be the final scene where he just breaks down. It’s a masterclass in acting.
This is emotional, gripping and very tough to watch. And I feel sorry for anyone who knows people going through such trauma.
