MasterPikeβs review published on Letterboxd:
Rian Johnson, stepping out of the shadow of the mediocre Looper and the mess that was The Last Jedi, continues to prove he can write and direct the absolute shit out of a good murder mystery. This was so much fun and so entertaining. Kate Hudson is alive and kicking, and enjoys the hell out of her ditzy, ignorant model role. Jessica Henwick is a talented, half Asian delight and I want to protect her π₯° Daniel Craig continues to enjoy himself as a blustering, keenly intelligent version of Foghorn Leghorn.
We may as well call Hugh Grant a gay icon at this point π³οΈβπ unless he embarrasses himself with another African-American prostitute in a parked vehicle there will be no hope for his perception as a cis man π€·ββοΈ In any case, I support his choices and hope he attempts a re-entry into Paddington π»ππ₯΄
But back to the film. I didn't pick the killer but the reveal was still a little disappointing; kind of a meh, that makes sense.
I can't help thinking that Edward Norton's character was designed as a "fuck you" to the specter of Elon Musk; a powerful billionaire with unlimited resources and influence who thinks he's smarter than he actually is π€·ββοΈ
