Midsommar

Midsommar ★★★★½

I'm not sure what it says about me that I decided to see this for the fourth time on a lark, but trust me, I'm fine.

Also, I'm pretty sure I start having an out-of-body experience whenever Aster and Pogorzelski lean into the overblown, slightly undersaturated Technicolor look of the '40s.

Honestly, I think my only glaring flaw here is how Aster falls back on comic relief in the last half hour. The last 40 minutes are paralyzing otherwise, so the more deflated bits just signal a lack of confidence.
