    Soderbergh’s images are as warped as these characters and the world they inhabit. The 15 endings are as exhausting as they are entertaining but it does end how it should. Lotta “neo-“s accurately describe this one. Increasingly the only contemporary cinema I respond to is big name directors fucking around with genre.

    griffith uses alchemy to create a film that feels like waves rolling onto shore, slowly cycling in the same direction (forwards). the waves briefly halt in order to deliver an ending with such emotional force that it will never stop reverberating into cinema's future. with films like this being made in 1910, the potential of cinema remains far from known.
