Burning

Burning ★★★★★

This is one of those films that affected me on such a deep level that I don’t even know what to say about the film itself. I’m not even completely sure why this movie moved me so much. It might just be that this film was made with such intense precision that it evokes strong subconscious connections, only becoming known to the viewer when the film has been finished for days, or weeks even. I became completely swept away in this film without even realizing it. Through the runtime, when seemingly nothing important was happening, I just had this odd feeling of awe and excitement, like the film had full control over me. It’s really hard for me to explain it, but try to understand me when I say that Burning messes with your head. The dreamy, hazy, sequences in this film felt magical and genuinely filled me with a striking sense of wonder. It is a slowly paced film, and you do feel the long runtime, but I honestly loved every second of it, for the reasons stated above. I know that this review isn’t really about the movie at all, but this is all i can really say right now. Nothing happens in this movie, yet everything happens, it is really quite remarkable. And that final scene, no words. If you are thinking of checking this film out, please do, the vibes are immaculate.
