Did you know Gmail will let you know when it suspects that the US government is trying to access your email? I didn't. I've never had any reason to worry whether or not the FBI might be trying to access my email

Sadly, that's not true for every American.

This is a vital and haunting film. See it while it's streaming for free on PBS, or rent it later.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

I kinda hated the way it couldn't decide whether it wanted to be satire or a celebration, and just settled in the middle — which raises some tricky ethical questions.

But counterpoint: Zac Efron (with panini-grill-mark-sideburns) claiming Creed's "Higher" is "Christian metal" made me laugh harder than I have in MONTHS.

68 different short films, all between one and two minutes, by filmmakers all around the world. It's incredible how concise these storytellers can be, and how their ideas, worlds, and characters can spring to life in just moments.

To be fair, some of the films work better than others (and there's a few who seemed to be phoning it in), but when the shorts are good, they're great. My favorites were by Monte Hellman, Samual Maoz, Pietro Marcello, Giuseppe Piccioni, Athina Rachel, and Yorgos Yanthimos.

Cutting toxic people out of your life in 2018 really do be like that sometimes.
