LUPITA AVENGE TONI AT THE OSCAR!!!
Us is one of the best entries to the horror genre in the past decade, and the fact Jordan Peele has managed to put out two instant classics is so damn impressive. Imagery, symbolism, foreshadowing scattered throughout the movie, starting from the very first frame. A script so meticulous and layered that I was stunned when all the pieces came together. It’s intense, scary, unpredictable, and surprisingly funny without taking away from the horror itself. Lupita Nyong’o gave a stunning tour-de-force performance; her physicality was insane as the dual characters, leaving me in awe and unsettled at the same time. I can’t wait to watch this again to pick up any other details that I might have missed.
Sort of a spoiler:
Fun fact: the word on Zora’s sweater at the end means “rabbit” in Vietnamese.
