Maxwell Bechtoldt’s review published on Letterboxd:
Will Poulter pissing on the ancestral tree then immediately vaping is the funniest thing in movie history.
This is the way this movie was meant to be viewed.
I hate to be that guy but it’s true.
23 extra minutes, it’s amazing what that can do to improve a film. This is really the type of movie I wasn’t sure was gonna hold up to rewatches. Part of what intrigued me the first time was not knowing where it was going. But sure enough Aster wrapped me up in this crazy, weird, disturbing world again, bringing out a nearly 3 hour long slow burn sprawling masterpiece that you cannot turn away from. If you can access the directors cut, I highly recommend checking it out.
