2018 Catchup
Let me establish the fact that I have yet to see Suspiria '77 and only watched this remake prior because it was readily available for me on Prime. Okay? Okay.
So with that being said, I loved this thing. One of my favorite aspects of the horror genre is body horror and man oh man does this movie deliver on that end. There is some truly disturbing imagery sprinkled throughout this film that I really appreciated. The color palette might be a bit muted but it's definitely far from "bland", especially in the latter half of the film and Lord knows I've gotta mention how fucking crisp and beautiful this film looks having been shot on 35mm (just like Luca's last film). Dakota Johnson, Mia Goth and Tilda Swinton absolutely kill it here with their performances. I've also gotta mention the score/soundtrack done by Thom Yorke, because it sounds absolutely f a n t a s t i c. Luca really knew what he was doing here and it shows, crazy to think that this is from the same director as CMBYN but I think that just goes to show the dude's range. Anyways, this movie rocks and I'll probably rewatch it again pretty soon. Pretty pretty pretty great stuff 👍.
