    A corn-ball delight. Child's Play is wild, silly, bloody, and a lot better than it needed to be. My only real complaint is that they didn't lean into the cheese even more, but it's still hard to deny a red-eyed Chucky earning lawn-mower kills as voiced by Mark Hamill.

    A stunning hybrid of mystery, sci-fi, horror, film-noir, and crazed paranoia—that's also probably 20 minutes too long (for whatever reason, I fell asleep on three separate occasions trying to finish this movie). It feels like the ultimate 70s horror flick: chalk-full of long zoom shots and a jazzy score that feels right at home in San Francisco.     Game Night is a lot better than it needs to be. There’s definitely a much dumber and clunkier version of this movie that John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein avoid with fairly nimble direction and a surprisingly well-rounded cast (the world can always use more Kyle Chandler). Three cheers for mainstream action comedies!!

    The worst blockbuster I’ve seen since Suicide Squad. Borderline incomprehensible, with so much test audience type of nonsense. The human pieces of 2014’s Godzilla were really lame, but they were at least quick and somewhat interesting on a visual level.
