Eternity and a Day ★★★★

Wild Strawberries meets Theo Angelopoulos; a road movie not transfixed on a destination, rather the idyllic happenings of both the internal and external. Eternity and a Day meanders through the present, conscious of the past, accepting the future.

Grand, sweeping long takes narrate the film, where both character and setting have seen better times. These tracking shots bring the pace down to a meditative brisk, defining the picturesque quality within. Seamlessly the shots are stapled together, leaving no jarring note between each masterful instance of meticulous composition.

Overall a great film. Managing to piece brilliant camerawork and bittersweet themes together into one cohesive narrative. That is all.
