Tenet ★★★★★

"We live in a twilight world"

This film is insane, there is no other way to put it. It is post modernist trash that shoots for the stars and by God it almost gets there. Past and future generations in constant strife, the involuntary journey of the protagonist that operates on a narrative and metatextual level, the predictability and fluidity of life, systemic abuse being overthrown by scientific overindulgence, the why and how of intricate Nolan narratives being taken to its most extreme form and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

It hangs by the loosest thread and somehow gets away with it, Nolan operates by his own narrative rules and tells everybody to go fuck themselves. "Don't come in with your expectations, let me be an autuer" he shouts with conviction. Tenet is overly nihilistic and sentimental all at the same time, it's so emotionless that it forms its own new way of expression, breaking my mind and heart in the process. If this is all Nolan is gonna do for the rest of his life taking ideas and being totally inconsiderate to his audience then count me on board.
