Matt Greene’s review published on Letterboxd:
Is there a movie that captures the axion “money is the root of all evil” with more accuracy than this? This non-mystery mystery is such a steadily paced and brilliantly written suspense-thriller. Even with all its shocks, its true strength is in its incredible, scary and often hilarious humanity. Thornton earns his Oscar nom, connecting us to his every conflicted emotion with quirk and ease. An intriguing unraveling of escalating events, and how normal people deal with them: with warm brokenness and cold logic.
