As for the non-liner storytelling, I can see it being seen as a gimmick, but like what Tower thought is last year, editing different perspectives together makes other stories not drama. And I feel the best way to edit these three prospectives together was to make it non-liner.
Personally I loved this choice (I say as a boy who hasn't seen Memento), becaue when all the stories combined, it felt much more emotionally impactful.
Also, I loved how Tom Hardy's character had a subtle ark in first taking out planes with only his co-pilot cheering. Then at the end, when he saved the evacuation, everyone saw him so he could have his sence on glory. But then he gets captured by the Germans.
