Lubitch`s cinema is the definition of craft. This film is considered as one of the most Lubitchian films for a reason. Lubitch was dying to make this film and the studio didn’t show that much of interest. It might be the best film of the year for me which I absolutely enjoyed. A lot of concepts are there such as childhood anxieties, envy, death and longing for acknowledgment. There is a Sado-Masochistic hierarchi between two main chacaters which reminds me of his earlier works such as “Master” and “There will be blood”.

If there is any way to depict human emotions and translate shame, ambivalence, love, jealousy, sin, judgement as human entities to image, Farhadi has found the way in his cinema. I enjoyed the film in all levels as the director works as wonderful storyteller and then finds the way to stay away and let the spectator to go through a flow of human`s emotions and connect to the closest ones. Maybe identifies with the victim or has passion for perpetrator.

My favorite in 2017 Tribeca; as I learned the director is an enthusiast cinephile and his images are clearly influenced by Bergman and serious Woody Allens`. The colors, filters and even locations are absolutely reminiscent of "Interiors" and "September". This randomicity of events around deep human feelings and connections is at the same time painful and visually stunning.
