Oliveira always surprises the audience by posing a moral/ethical issue and using that as main theme of his dramas. Late Portuguese maestro made this in his 90s which is also brilliant on how vivid everything is.

What is cinema? Illusion of lights. This film is a beautiful endorsement of this illusion. One major time in the film is when the magician's creature revolts.

It might be the best film of the year for me which I absolutely enjoyed. A lot of concepts are there such as childhood anxieties, envy, death and longing for acknowledgment. There is a Sado-Masochistic hierarchi between two main chacaters which reminds me of his earlier works such as “Master” and “There will be blood”.

If Italian cinema in its own perfect sense resonates in "Leopard", Iranian cinema as a real representative of Iranian culture, blows out here in this film. Film is like a Persian miniature and is as tense and dark as inside Iranian religious morals. It works and connects in different layers, and is definitely a masterpiece of all times.
