Netflix is or was showing the movie "The Stepfather" - a remake of a movie released in 1987 - which was released in 2009 so I reviewed that one in 2018. Here's my review:

One of the most agonizing, frustrating things about that movie was Amber Heard's character. Penn Badgley's character tells her that crazy things are happening and that the Stepfather character in the movie is dangerous and not to be trusted. In turn, Amber's character gaslights him…

    Disappointingly average.

The people who over-hyped this movie, claiming they "smiled throughout the entire thing" or that this is an "amazing romantic comedy" - I'm quite sure that these people were paid.

One of those so-called "romantic comedies" that's not very romantic nor comedic. A typical, middling movie where visible minorities exist onscreen purely to assist two white people find love. It feels like a movie that's not from 2019, in that sense definitely.

Charlize's look in this movie is…

    This Movie Has:

    - The fashion industry
    - Workplace politics
    - A strong young woman dealing with sexual harassment
    - An adorable service industry romance with Josh Charles
    - The same teenage boy actor who stars in "Adventures in Babysitting" and a title that makes me conflate this movie with that one

I finally saw it! After 11 years! I guess the combination of my starting a job of managing at a movie theatre in December 2008 and the intimidating running time of three hours made me procrastinate watching this movie. Now I feel so stupid! I never expected to like it THIS much! I do really like David Fincher, and I do like Brad Pitt....... I don't know! I don't know what I was thinking! I'm just happy that some guy…

    ★★★

    It's so funny,
    It's so cheesy,
    It's so 90's.

Alicia Silverstone and Cary Elwes are so beautiful. The whole movie is wonderful to look at. The decor, the clothing, the styling, the scenery, of course the actors.

The dialogue is really ridiculous, but Alicia and Cary make it believable.

It's just so much funnier than it's intended to be, but that's what makes it such a ball.

    It's a 3 star movie, I guess. If that.

The movie is funniest when Regina Hall's character is onscreen, but unfortunately, she's only given minimal screentime.

Most of the movie stars Marsai Martin, so this is more of a movie for Generation Z rather than me, I think.

Do they do Fortnite dances? Oh you bet they do Fortnite dances.

I mean, we've seen these types of movies before. Body-switching, fantasy type movies. And this does absolutely nothing different, in my opinion.

    Here's a list of them:

    What Happens in Vegas

    ★★½

    Some of it is funny.

    Some of it is DISGUSTING.

Some of it is that this is specifically one of those movies filled with soundbites and hackneyed/cliched dialogue just to put into a trailer and sell the movie. You know what I mean? Some of this movie is that. There's one part of the movie where the actors just scream "Vegas" like 17 times in a row. Not kidding.

Also, I think there are a lot of logical holes where…

This goes into the pantheon of romantic comedies that I simply didn't "get" at first and now admit that I unabashedly love. I'm old / something's wrong with me / my heart's growing too big / I don't know what it is.

I really enjoy this one. This is the definition of a feel-good movie. It's right up my alley.

I went from totally thinking "Her?" about Mae Whitman (LOL, "Arrested Development" reference) to now being a real genuine fan of hers, both from this movie and from "Good Girls". Also Ken Jeong is amazing.

Somebody totally ruined this movie by pointing out something that I'll put way down at the bottom of my review, so that you can skip it if you want this movie untainted for you.

I am a big addict of Cameron Diaz's filmography.

This is basically like "School of Rock" - yet, as I see "School of Rock" like the way normal people see "Casablanca", it's obviously not as good as "School of Rock".

But this is like "School of Rock" with the cast of "Sex Tape". Alarmingly, this is like the prequel for "Sex Tape". Weird that I never noticed that before.

    All of that spells good.

    I love Cameron. And I have…
