Melissa Stetten’s review published on Letterboxd:
Donald Trump voice: sad!
When I was 14 my best friend of 5 years decided to stop being my friend and never gave me a reason why. I was devastated. I reached out to her via email a few years ago to say hello and ask about her life. She’s married with 2 kids and doing well, but she couldn’t remember why she stopped talking to me, she thinks maybe she was caught up with her new boyfriend and thought she was too cool for me.
The thing that wrecked me though is she said she never had another close friend after me, and she always regretted whatever happened between us.
I talked about this in therapy and realized the reason it took me a very long time to form close friendships was because of what happened with her. Hard to trust people etc.
I didn’t write her back, and it’s been 3 years so it feels like the window has closed, but I think about it a lot and this movie has inspired me to start thinking about finally replying to that email.
(Haven’t been to therapy in 3 months cuz of my new baby, sorry for using Letterboxd to get my thoughts out)
